Lodging Recommendations
Most events will be taking place in the old city and will be walking distance or a short uber ride away.
Lodging Tips for Our Guests:
For the best experience during your stay, we recommend booking accommodations in or near the vibrant neighborhood of Getsemaní, known for its charming streets, great food, and lively atmosphere; just a short walk from the wedding venue in the Walled City. Another great option is Bocagrande, a modern beachfront area with plenty of hotels and beautiful ocean views. It’s only a quick and easy Uber ride to the airport and all the wedding festivities in the historic center.
We recommend booking accommodations through Airbnb or a site like Hotels.com. It is a good idea to book in advance because places can fill up a few months in advance of the dates of stay.
Booking Dates
We recommend two options depending on how much time you'd like to spend in Cartagena:
Option 1: Full Experience (including boat day & extra time exploring the city)
05/14/2026 - 05/19/2026 - Five Nights
Arrive on Thursday, May 14, 2026 and depart on Tuesday, May 19, 2026. This gives you time to settle in and explore the city before the welcome dinner on Friday. You’ll also be able to enjoy a full day out on the water with us on Sunday, spend Monday exploring Cartagena before flying home Tuesday.
Option 2: Wedding Weekend Only (boat day or explore city on Sunday)
05/14/2026 - 05/18/2026 - Four Nights
Arrive on Thursday, May 14, 2026 (ideally in the morning or early afternoon) and depart on Monday, May 18, 2026. This shorter stay still gives you time to celebrate with us and join us for the boat day on Sunday or enjoy some of Cartagena’s charm on Sunday before heading home Monday.
Booking Tips
If booking through airbnb and the listing dates are not available on the hosts profile we recommend sending the host a message through the airbnb app about your dates of stay. Some hosts may be able to open the dates so you can book further in advance or they may open the dates up beginning in 2026.
We recommend not mentioning that you are traveling for a wedding when booking and just say visiting Cartagena because sometimes “wedding” can come with an extra price tag.

Safety Tips & Neighborhood Overview
Both Getsemaní and Bocagrande are popular and generally very safe neighborhoods for visitors. Getsemaní is lively and artistic, with a welcoming local vibe, just be mindful of your surroundings at night, especially on quieter streets. Bocagrande is a modern, beachfront area with hotels, shops, and a more residential feel, offering a very comfortable and safe stay.
General Safety Tips:
Use Uber or Lyft when getting around, especially at night. Ride shares also eliminate the need to negotiate with taxis. We recommend getting cars at your airbnb or hotel so you can use the Wifi.
Keep valuables secure and avoid flashy jewelry or large amounts of cash.
Stay in well-lit, populated areas after dark.
As in any city, stay aware of your surroundings and trust your instincts.
Cartagena is a beautiful and welcoming city—just take the usual precautions, and you’ll have a wonderful time!
